If you or your child has been diagnosed with autism you may be experiencing difficulty across the board with learning and socializing, including verbal and non-verbal language and attention. When someone struggles with social interaction and has interest in limited topics or pastimes, connecting with others can be very difficult. Without those connections life can become very isolating, and when simple daily tasks become a huge challenge deep frustration can build within an individual and/or family unit. The HANDLE PerspectiveA HANDLE provider starts by evaluating the client but not to provide a score or rating. Most evaluations you may have experienced provide some rating that lets you know how impaired or not impaired you are. That is not the goal of a HANDLE evaluation and it is not the perspective your provider takes during the evaluation. The goal is to learn about a person so we can gain insight into why their patterns have evolved. A HANDLE provider operates on the assumption that everyone has a reason for what they do, and it serves a purpose. When we understand that reason we can begin to address stress and discomfort associated with the diagnosis of autism so you can live with more ease. HANDLE ApproachYou will be given a program of activities to do daily that will reduce stress. The activities will also help the brain become more organized so functions such as eye teaming for eye contact are enhanced, as well as many others. By enhancing the function of the body HANDLE can address the symptoms associated with the label autism in a deep and profound way. |
