Practitioner Statement
My focus in 33years of clinical practice has been to bring to my patients the best and most advanced, effective understanding, knowledge and technology available to serve the people who are under my care. When I met Judith Bluestone (1944-2009), the Founder and Developer of the HANDLE Approach and the HANDLE Institute, I knew that I encountered someone extraordinary. Judith had a revolutionary inside-out understanding of how the nervous system works from a functional perspective. Bluestone applied her personal experience, as a person with autism and a host of other neurological difficulties, to the sciences of neurology and education, and developed a unique approach that has served many people worldwide.

My personal experiences growing up with a brother with cerebral palsy have given me unique insights into the difficulties, and triumphs of being a neurologically challenged person. The trials and rewards of the families and care-givers of people with neurological challenges is part of the fabric of my life. I have also been an eye witness to the value of a functional approach to human neurology and development. My parents sought out the most advanced functional neurological approach for my brother at about the age of 4. His development, and subsequent life experiences, as a result of that intervention, have greatly outpaced all the expectations that his doctors and caregivers had for him before the intervention.

In the HANDLE approach to neurodevelopmental challenges, I saw many of the things that had been so successful with my brother. Bluestone combined many elements I was familiar with growing up with my brother, but with a more advanced understanding, development and application of a functional approach to neurological challenges that is the HANDLE Approach. It was at that point I decided to embrace HANDLE and do my best to bring a higher level of service to those I am charged with helping.

In addition to the hands-on training through the HANDLE Institute, I have a thorough background in clinical neurology through studies through the Carrick Institute of Neurology. In 2010, I obtained diplomate status in functional neurology through the ACNB. I am member of the International Association of Functional Neurology and Rehabilitation. In addition, I have an extensive background in clinical nutrition, Clinical and Applied Kinesiology, craniopathy, acupressure, sports medicine, physical therapy and chiropractic. I am very happy to say that being a HANDLE Certified Practitioner is one of the most rewarding and gratifying things I have done.
