Disclaimer and Terms of Use

Welcome to our website.  This Disclaimer contains important information we need to share with you and for you to understand.  Please be advised of the following.

The information contained on this website, including ideas, suggestions, techniques, activities, and other materials, is educational in nature and is provided only as general information and is not medical or psychological advice.

Transmission of the information on this website is not intended to create, and receipt does not constitute, any type of professional relationship between the visitor and The HANDLE® Institute and should not be relied upon as medical, psychological, coaching, or other professional advice of any kind or nature.
You understand by viewing this website you will be introduced to the HANDLE® approach (Holistic Approach to NeuroDevelopment and Learning Efficiency) developed by Judith Bluestone (“HANDLE”).

HANDLE is an alternative nonmedical/psychological approach to neurodevelopmental irregularities that uses organized movement activities designed to enhance neurological systems that are causing learning or life difficulties.  Gentle Enhancement® is a fundamental concept of HANDLE based on the understanding that weak, disorganized, immature, or damaged neurological systems should be gently strengthened and if an individual’s system is stressed it does not get stronger but becomes more disordered or shuts down.  The premise is that stress interferes with cognitive function, influences mental health, and alters the structure of the brain.  HANDLE teaches individuals to recognize symptoms of stress-level state changes.

Although this website mentions medical and psychological disorders, you understand that The HANDLE Institute is using these mainstream labels solely as a form of shorthand to describe clusters of symptomatic behaviors.

You understand there is a distinction between “treating” using HANDLE and the practice of medicine or any other licensed health care profession.

Although HANDLE appears to have promising mental, emotional, and physical benefits, HANDLE has yet to be fully researched by the Western academic, medical, and psychological communities and therefore, is considered experimental.

HANDLE is self-regulated and the State of California does not license any HANDLE practitioners and considers HANDLE to be “alternative” or “complementary” to the healing arts that are licensed by the State of California.

The Handle Institute does not offer medical, psychological, or other licensed health care services or training nor are the services and trainings offered by The HANDLE Institute licensed by the State of California.  Under Sections 2053.5 and 2053.6 of California’s Business and Professions Code, The HANDLE Institute can offer its services and trainings, subject to the requirements and restrictions that are described fully therein.

Any information presented on this website about HANDLE is not intended to represent that HANDLE is used as a substitute for seeking professional health care advice.

The HANDLE Institute strongly advises that you seek professional advice as appropriate before making any health decision.
